Hi Guys, We will be conducting an Aikido Demo this sunday at the Monmouth/Ocean County Arthritis Walk, located at “The Historic Village At Allaire, Farmingdale, NJ.” For more info on this event click on www.monoceaw.kintera.org . We will also have the Capoeira group participating with us. This demo is a family event. Consider this our dojo’s first summer event. As you well know I conduct several family events in the summer for the dojo. ALL MEMBERS CAN PARTICIPATE. I also would like some of the Aiki-Kids to be involved. Our own student Ismael Ribot’s (a.k.a Cholo) daughter “SADIE RIBOT” is this years “Youth Honoree”! We were requested to conduct this demo on her behalf. Cholo is a dedicated member of our dojo and its an honor for us to be involved in such a great event! Now to the details… Dennis O’Day is the point man/coordinator of this event. Please feel free to call him @ 609-618-0448 or email tarcoday@aol.com . Several of you signed up at the dojo and he has that list. We need more members to participate! The demo will be held between 8:30-9:30am. We have to be at the dojo by 7:45am to load the mats onto a pick-up truck that Cholo is providing. The demonstration format will be an on-going one shared between us and Capoeira. First: beginners will get on the mat to perform/demonstrate what they know, second: additionally higher ranked students will perform, then finally seniors will finish the demo with advanced techniques. I want to thank all the Manasquan Dojo members for making 2011 a very exciting year. Some great summer events, some fantastic new ranks with fantastic testing! I want to thank everyone for the great support this past year.Now its 2012! Lets continue to be positive, have some great practice and continued growth  at the Manasquan Dojo! Lets make our Aiki family bigger & stronger!!!!! Like I mention all the time…… “Samurai Must Train”…. Luv you all!

Hi Guys,

This weekend we had a fantastic seminar with Francis Takahashi Shihan 7th Dan, and Yasumasa Itoh 6th Dan and also testing.

I’m proud to announce that all of the Manasquan testing candidates did FANTASTIC! The members that passed are: Stan- Shodan, Jim Graz- Shodan, Greg- 4th Kyu, Bob- 4th Kyu, Cholo- 5th Kyu, Andrew- 5th Kyu. One very important note: the guys had the very fortunate opportunity to have Shihan Takahashi be at the testing committee table!Shihan Takahashi is one of the still living people that took ukemi for O’Sensei when O’Sensei visited Hawaii in the old days! Hi Guys,

I want to thank all the members that attended the events we scheduled this summer. August was a very busy month for me this year and its still not over! One of my goals is to take the practice of AIKDO to our daily lives. Good Aikido practice happens on and off the mat. The Aiki-Family is a big and strong one. I’m happy to see the members enjoy the events when they are planned.

I will be setting up a “Back To School Basics” seminar in September at the Manasqaun Dojo. Look for the announcement in future emails. After the summer season is over, Labor Day, and kids get back to school, we need to RE-BOOT if you will and get back to solid Aikido Basic practice. Its going to be a 4 hour intensive training day. Hope all of you can make it so we can just enjoy our good Aikido practice in this new coming season.

This “ Back To School Basics” seminar will also prep us for the up and coming seminar  scheduled for October 28-29-30 with Sensei Rojo from Chili! Lets all get in shape for this seminar which will be held at ACNJ- East Hanover Dojo.

What a crazy day this was. The weather forecast was thunder storms on & off. We originally cancelled the event due to the weather, but do to high demand we did it anyway. By the time we re-scheduled it, some members had made other plans. Even with that, we had a fantastic time with those that made the event. Check out the pics. On June 15, 2011, The Manasquan Dojo conducted tactical handcuffing & takedown training for the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department. I conducted the training with the help of Kit & Jose.

I would like to give special thanks to Officer Anthony Torre, of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department- DT Instructor for making this great seminar happen.. Thanks!

I want to thank all the Manasquan Dojo members for the FANTASTIC effort in their testing and the attendance of the seminar.
